Lotte Geeven is a multi-media artist from Amsterdam creating tailor-made portraits of sovereign places. These simple yet graphic renderings aim to envelope the magic of autonomy and explore complex matters, including the idea of a power beyond our control that is related to a specific place. For example, The Sound of the Earth records the sound emitted from the deepest hole on our planet. It portrays the abstract quality of the earth’s core. Or the work Sovereign, an upside-down Jaguar spinning on its back in slow motion in an empty parking lot, is an exploration of the ambiguous character of this unregulated location.
